Meet Me In The Middle helps a group calculate a central meeting point and find nearby venues. No account is required.
Room access and location visibility
A room code is a bearer secret. Anyone who has a valid room link can view the display names and exact latitude and longitude shared in that room. Use a nickname if preferred, share links only with intended participants, and remove your location when it is no longer needed.
Data we process
- A random room code, creation time, expiry time, and participant change version.
- The display name and exact coordinates each participant chooses to share.
- A random participant token used to update or remove that participant's location.
- HMAC-derived identifiers and counters used to enforce abuse and provider cost limits. Raw IP addresses are not stored in those counters.
- Privacy-safe operational logs containing request IDs, methods, response status, and timing. Room URLs, search text, names, and coordinates are not intentionally logged.
Retention
Rooms and participant records expire approximately 24 hours after creation. Expired records are removed by scheduled cleanup. Rate-limit counters expire after their enforcement windows. Google Places responses are kept only in the current browser page memory and are not stored in the application database.
Browser storage
Your browser local storage remembers the display name you entered and a random token for each room you joined. This lets you update or remove your own location. The Service does not use advertising cookies.
Third-party services
- OpenStreetMap: your browser requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap tile servers. Those requests reveal normal web request information such as your IP address and user agent, and the requested tiles indicate the map area being viewed. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
- Google Maps Platform: address search text, selected place identifiers, and the calculated center used for recommendations are sent by this server to Google Places API. Google venue results are shown in a separate card panel and link to Google Maps. See Google's Privacy Policy, the Google Maps Platform Terms of Service, and the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms.
Your choices
You can avoid browser geolocation by dropping a map pin or searching for a place, use a nickname, remove your location from an active room, and clear this site's local storage through your browser settings.
